Houston, we nearly have contact!

September12

Oh goodness… it’s here! The day I leave to meet the potential love of my life… the man who’s kept me in stitches for four months… the guys who’s singlehandedly renewed my interest in romance and relationships… I’m a little bit longer than a stone’s throw away from him… ok, maybe just a BIT longer. :) *big grin*

Being an international travel novice, I had no idea what it would be like to fly out of the country. Honestly, it’s no different than when I’ve flied domestically. Just check in, check your baggage, and go through security… that’s it! Having been here since a bit after noon, I sit in the terminal… for another 2+ hours until my plane departs.   Oh well… better to be safe than sorry!   The time that I won’t be as patient is when I get off the plane at Gatwick, SOOOOOOOOOOO ready to see my baby… Read the rest of this entry »

Sometimes 9/11 is a good date…

September11

Several years ago, my then husband, Scott, told me how the military counted down until an exciting event happened; they counted the wake ups rather than actual days. For some odd reason, that method stuck in my head and I’ve been using it pretty much ever since. Now, there’s only one wake up until the most exciting event of my life, this far, happens… I leave for England to FINALLY see my Jon! It’s been a long time coming, too. At times, these last four months feel as though they have crawled by… other times (like now!) it feels like we’ve zoomed right through them.

Last Friday night is when it finally hit me… that I… me… Kelley Chambers… will be boarding a Delta flight bound for Gatwick airport in England. Having never been out of the country (minus Mexico… that country simply doesn’t count!) this is the single biggest experience I’ve ever taken on alone. While the actual travel is only a small portion of the experience I’m about to embark, it’s Read the rest of this entry »

“Dresden Files” dead at age 1.

August20

It’s official now; the only Harry worth watching now is Potter. Legions of people wrote to SCI-FI and NBC to save the show, including yours truly. It’s not that the show was necessarily unpopular, it’s ratings were as strong as Battlestar Gallatica (which remains on SCI-FI), it simply just couldn’t make the network enough money. Even after considering moving production to Edmonton, Alberta (Canada), the executives finally decided to lower the guillotine on our beloved program; a full month after SCI-FI execs promised to make a decision.

Fortunately through Jon, I’ve discovered new shows on BBC America such as “Dr. Who”, “Coupling”, “Bargain Hunt” and of course, “Absolutely Fabulous!”. It still doesn’t make up for the utter stupidity of the American networks who consistantly shoot themselves in the foot by killing imaginitve, enthralling, and truly high quality programming. Just really makes me loathe corporate America that much more.   *shaking head*

Heart Rate Up. Weight Down.

August15

… at least I hope so anyway. :)

Two years ago, I bought the Gazelle Freestyle through HSN for a whopping $179 bucks.   Sadly, it’s never been used for anything other than an extension of my closet. So, as of Tuesday night, I finally decided to use it as it was intended; to work off some of my plumpus rumpus.   I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed a well earned sweat.   The last two nights I’ve been going solid for a minimum of 20 minutes at a pretty high pace, which has given me a good sweat and welcomed boost of energy.

Yet, the benefits do come with a price… and that price being two very sore calves this morning; which, of course, is the only thing I DON’T need to work out (go figure!). So, I think tonight I’ll be doing 30 minutes of Yoga tonight and give my legs a rest!

T-Minus 30 Days…

August12

Though we are still 30 days out from our first physical meeting, it really seems to me that Jon & I have known each other far longer than 90 days, rather it feels more like a lifetime. I suppose when a couple has an inherent romantic connection, their bonds become naturally strong and familiar far quicker than those who do not. Strangely enough, the nervousness I really thought I’d have this close to leaving simply isn’t apparent to me. However, I’m sure that the week prior to my departure, those feelings will be sure to rear their ugly head.

Meanwhile, Jon and I are doing “our own thing” and I’m enjoying the hell out of it. In fact, he’s on the other end of the phone right now reading some technical material about satellites and I’m, well, writing this blog entry. Whilst some might find that incredible boring, I actually bask in the comfortable silence… gives me an inkling on how we’ll interact when we’re together full time… In fact, if the truth be known, it makes me a tad on the giddy side… Like knowing that you’ve found the “one”. Honestly, I think I have…………………………..

The DOG Days of Summer.

August8

It’s no secret my adoration for pups. But on days like today, that chocolatey baby would be catapulted OFF that float and into the pool… for the main reason being that heavenly cushion would be cradling MY ass!

hot weather!
hot weather!

Just to show those who are oblivious to the heat metro Atlanta is experiencing… here’s a visual of today’s brutality. Both in farenheit and in celcius for not quite Americanized friends! … you know who you are! ;-)   Keep in mind, now, that those screenshots were taken at 8:45p at night.   Sick, huh?   Tell me about it.

Now, I know I realize others, England for example, have had far worse weather… Read the rest of this entry »

39 days and counting…

August4

Soon to be 38 days (in fourty minutes!)… but who’s counting???!!!???? As the days pass and the countdown continues, I can’t help but to see what’s around Gloucester.

So far I’ve found quite a few things that I know I’d love to do. One of them being, Berkeley Castle located in the township of Stroud. Oozing in rich, English history and gorgeous countryside, this is the type of an attraction that would satiate my ever pondering mind.   It seems to be fairly priced at £7.50/adult and includes the Castle, Gardens and Butterfly House; all self-guided. While seemingly close to Jon’s house, the Castle’s website has a “links” page chocked full of near by bed and breakfasts to full-service hotels.   Read the rest of this entry »

Summer TV Sucks. Sorta.

July31

Ok, for the most part, everyone agrees… summer time television bites the great BIG one! Though I have to admit, there are a few shows on American TV which are worth watching. Here are the ones I do look forward to:

  • NBC’s America’s Got Talent: Julienne Irwin

I must preface I’m not a country fan; whatsoever.

The Funniest Way to Clean Up Dog Hair

July30

I can’t tell you how incredibly hard it is to keep my furniture clean from the mass amounts of dog hair emitted from Maggie & Bubbles. Case in point, last night I put fresh sheets on the bed. Immediately, Bubba decided, “Oh boy! Let’s make a mess of em!”. Which somewhat pissed me off but also made me think, “How can I make both of us happy???” Here’s how I did it… (and got a big laugh in the process!)

So close. So far away.

July27

Well, I had my site up… prettified… and somewhat functional… until I screwed the pooch last night. Was playing with the PHP in the WordPress core and managed to really foul things up. Oh well, live and learn.

So, now this is my 3rd reincarnation of my website since it went “down” in June.   Give me time. I’ll get it right… promise! :) This time what I’m doing differently is get the plugins up and running and add all the functionality first before doing the stuff that takes the longest… customizing the theme.

I’m hoping by tonight everything will be where it should be function wise… *crossing fingers and holding mouth JUST so!*
